For the past three years, I have dedicated my nursing career to serving individuals navigating addiction and recovery. As a registered nurse working in substance use treatment, I have had the honor of walking alongside people in some of the most vulnerable and transformative seasons of their lives.
Addiction is not just something I treat professionally — it is something I understand personally.
Growing up in the presence of family addiction and later confronting my own struggles with codependency deeply shaped my perspective. Codependency is often overlooked, yet it is its own form of addiction — an attachment to control, fixing, rescuing, and losing oneself in another person’s chaos. It runs hand in hand with substance use disorders, feeding the same cycles of fear, shame, and survival.
Today I am still healing, as recovery is a lifelong journey. Recovery requires boundaries. It requires surrender. And it requires compassion — for others and for myself.
Those experiences did not weaken me; they refined me. They gave me empathy, love without losing structure, and compassion paired with accountability.
During my time working in treatment, someone once shared with me that they had never seen a firefly before arriving at a facility where fireflies filled the night sky. During that season, I gave them a small glow-in-the-dark firefly charm — a simple reminder that even in the darkest seasons, light still exists.
That moment stayed with me.
The Firefly Project was born from that symbolism — the belief that even the smallest light can make a difference in someone’s path forward.
If I can be a light in even one person’s life — if I can create safety, structure, and hope for someone who feels lost — that is enough for me.
While my heart is for all people impacted by addiction and codependency, The Firefly Project is a women’s sober living home. It is a space intentionally created for women to heal in community, to rebuild identity, to learn healthy boundaries, and to grow in accountability within a nurturing environment.
My approach is holistic and heart-centered. I believe recovery is not only about abstinence — it is about restoring mind, body, and spirit. It is about learning emotional regulation, developing self-worth, practicing boundaries, and creating a life rooted in purpose rather than survival.
This work is not just my career — it is my calling. It is where my professional training, lived experience, and deep compassion meet. The Firefly Project is my life’s purpose.
I am honored to serve, to guide, to love, and to help.
Healing them, while they heal me✨
